Co-founders of Strawberry Umbrella, Gemma Dingle and Tanya Whitehurst, are both experienced authorised Marriage Celebrants that have been working in the wedding industry around the Perth region for a number of years. They are both passionate about offering a unique, but cost-effective way for couples to get married, especially in the strange times we all currently find ourselves in.
Gemma Dingle –
Hi! Here’s a bit about me…. I’m from the UK originally, and have been living in Perth for 8 years. In my previous life I worked in a variety of jobs, from physiotherapist to primary school teacher, but since arriving in Australia, and being so enamoured with the idea of being involved in people’s love stories, I became a marriage celebrant to follow my dreams! I am a mum to two children, and a FIFO wife, so I understand the challenges that most brides face when planning their big day around normal life.
The idea for Strawberry Umbrella started over a glass (or two!) of wine, and a shared friendship, where we realised that both of us had the desire to be able to offer couples something a bit different, without compromising excellent customer service, whilst still making the occasion something fun and stylish.
We look forward to meeting our couples and helping them follow their dreams of getting married!
Tanya Whitehurst –
Hi – my name is Tanya and I am the other half (so to speak) of this dynamic duo – Strawberry Umbrella! To say I am excited about this venture would be an understatement, as I have only recently got married myself, I totally understand how stressful planning a wedding and keeping to a budget can be.
I am a massive animal lover, no children but five ‘furbabies’, and a fantastically supportive (thank goodness) husband, who allows me to follow my unique and sometimes a bit quirky path! In the past I worked in the entertainment industry, but being a celebrant, and participating in key moments of people’s lives is something I absolutely adore, and whilst I know that this new way of getting married won’t be for everyone, for those that do chose it, we will make it super special!
