Terms & Conditions
**By paying the ceremony fee, you (the couple) are both agreeing to the terms and conditions clearly set out in this document.
Booking, Payment and Paperwork
- Bookings (chosen date, time and location) for a Strawberry Umbrella ceremony are not confirmed until full payment is made.
- You (the couple) must complete, get witnessed, and scan the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) document to Strawberry Umbrella within two weeks of booking your ceremony. The Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) can be lodged by one person, if circumstances are such that the other person is not available to complete their signatures at the time you lodge the document with Strawberry Umbrella. This missing party must sign and be witnessed before the ceremony is solemnised.
- You (the customer) must provide Strawberry Umbrella with scanned or photographed copies of your chosen ID. If applicable, you must also provide copies of divorce or death certificates to Strawberry Umbrella to verify you are legally able to marry.
- You (the couple) must provide the attending celebrant with original copies of your ID, including any accredited translated documents as well as the original Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM).
- If the couple fail to provide original documentation on the day of your ceremony, it will fall to the discretion of the attending celebrant as to whether the ceremony takes place.
- The couple must endeavour to provide Strawberry Umbrella with accurate information and acknowledge that the penalty for making a false declaration is four years imprisonment. The Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) papers and marriage will be invalid if inaccurate information is provided.
- The couple must ensure the correct, accurate and legible completion of the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM), in accordance with the instruction document provided by Strawberry Umbrella.
- Contact details of the couple are to be kept current throughout the planning process and on their wedding day. It is the couple responsibility to inform Strawberry Umbrella in writing if they have moved address, changed their job, changed their phone number or email address, etc, etc.
- It is the responsibility of the couple to provide Strawberry Umbrella with their ceremony selection at the time of submitting the completed, witnessed, Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM). Failure to do so will result in Strawberry Umbrella selecting a ceremony for you.
- If you are planning to add personal vows and/or ring exchange wording, in addition to the ceremony template, Strawberry Umbrella must be informed of your choice to do so, at the time of submitting your completed and witnessed Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM).
- If you want to reschedule your ceremony date, time, or the location that you originally selected, and you have given Strawberry Umbrella more that 35 days-notice, subject to availability, there will only be a minimal $50 administration fee charged.
If you want to reschedule your ceremony date and/or time, and you have given Strawberry Umbrella less that 35 days-notice, a $200 reschedule fee will apply. New dates, times and locations are all subject to availability.
Ceremony
- The couple acknowledges that the ceremonies provided by Strawberry Umbrella are registry office /elopement/minimony/micro style ceremonies, lasting no more than 15 minutes in duration.
- Ceremony fee is non-refundable.
- The wedding must start at the selected start time of your ceremony. If the couple arrive after the chosen ceremony start time, a reschedule fee of $200 will be charged, and a new date and time must be selected, subject to availability, via the Strawberry Umbrella website. *(However, if you are late as a result of circumstances outside of your control, such as a car accident, you must inform the attending celebrant as soon as possible and a rescheduled date and time will be permitted free of charge).
- Where the attending celebrant experiences problems on the way to the wedding (e.g. traffic accident/flat tyre/traffic jam), they will contact the couple as soon as possible to advise their approximate updated arrival time. Strawberry Umbrella will not be held responsible or liable for such events, on the unlikely chance they occur.
- Ceremony locations are subject to change by Strawberry Umbrella. Where practicable, a location of a similar nature will be sought on the day.
- Strawberry Umbrella accept no responsibility for other activities that may be taking place at the ceremony location, although every endeavour will be made to keep abreast of any local events that may be planned. This is due to the fact that we are using public spaces for our ceremonies.
- Your ceremony will remain at your chosen location, unless we are subject to unusual weather events on the day, such as lightning, storms, strong winds, floods or bush fires. The decision to move the ceremony will be at the discretion of the attending celebrant on the day, to ensure the safety of all parties attending the ceremony.
If the location has to be altered near to your ceremony start time, the attending celebrant will attempt to contact you by phone at least an hour beforehand (where practicable) to advise of the alternative location.
- A gentle reminder that under no circumstances are the parties to bring, arrange or erect any arbours, chairs (other than for the very elderly or disabled), arches, confetti or any other decorations.
- Whilst every precaution is taken, the attending celebrant and Strawberry Umbrella are indemnified against any claim made due to either accident or injury resulting from the use of any equipment supplied by the celebrant or Strawberry Umbrella.
- Whilst every attempt has been made to source easily accessible locations for our ceremonies, Strawberry Umbrella and the attending celebrant accept no responsibility if a member of the wedding party, or an attending guest, injures themselves or their personal belongings whilst attending your wedding. (e.g. – falls, damages dress/camera etc)
- All of the ceremony locations have been chosen with their nearby facilities in mind. However, Strawberry Umbrella cannot guarantee available parking spaces due to the public nature of the locations. Further, if any ceremony attendees are subject to parking fines or vehicle damage, Strawberry Umbrella accept no responsibility.
- The couple acknowledges that they cannot choose their celebrant and that Strawberry Umbrella will allocate a fun, friendly, local, professional, authorised marriage celebrant, appointed by the Australian Government’s Attorney General’s Department. Strawberry Umbrella reserves the right to change the allocated celebrant prior to your ceremony at any time.
- Allocated celebrants are not employees or agents of Strawberry Umbrella. Strawberry Umbrella is not liable for the actions or omissions of a celebrant contracted by Strawberry Umbrella.
- The attending celebrant and Strawberry Umbrella, take no responsibility for the disruptive behaviour of children, guests or the public, prior to, during or after the ceremony.
- The couple acknowledges that the attending celebrant cannot, according to law, officiate a marriage for any person who the celebrant believes to be intoxicated, or under the influence of any drug or any other substance, or who is being coerced or forced into the marriage.
- Additionally, if the attending celebrant believes either one of the parties to the marriage is mentally incapable of understanding the nature and effect of the marriage ceremony, the attending celebrant cannot legally perform the ceremony.
- In such circumstances the attending celebrant may cancel the ceremony and the full fee will be non-refundable. A reschedule fee of $200 will be charged if the ceremony can be rescheduled, at the sole discretion of Strawberry Umbrella on the advice from the attending celebrant.
- Couples agree that any photographs taken at the time of the ceremony by the attending celebrant, may be used for promotional purposes. These include, but are not limited to; social media forums, website or other locations unless prior arrangements have been made directly with Strawberry Umbrella by the marrying couple to prevent use of their images in this regard.
Cancellation
- In the event of cancellation, written notice by the couple is required. As previously detailed, Strawberry Umbrella will retain the full ceremony fee of $410.
Intellectual Property
- All written and verbal information shared is to be used solely by the marrying couple and cannot, at any time, be shared, replicated, copied or reproduced without prior permission from Strawberry Umbrella.

- As our company name suggests, we are rather fond of strawberries…. therefore, please advise at the earliest convenience if you have any allergy to our preferred choice of fruit…!
- You will be happy to know there are no more terms and conditions…..now, let’s get you married!!
COVID-19
- If you are feeling unwell on your wedding day, contact Strawberry Umbrella immediately.

We are ever hopeful that your ceremony date and time will go ahead as planned. However, if your date is impacted by a government directive linked to COVID-19, you will be able to reschedule your ceremony at no additional cost. For the sake of transparency, no refunds will be made, however, we are happy to reschedule at no additional cost.
- Strawberry Umbrella’s celebrants have all completed the Australian Government Department of Health Infection Control Training – COVID-19 and follow all of the practices within our ceremonies.
- Strawberry Umbrella are committed to keeping updated with the latest COVID-19 state government guidelines and will advise couples of any changes that are applicable to them and their booking.
